Former Director General of Police
Sutapa Sanyal is a TEDx speaker, consultant and advisor on Diversity & Inclusion, Women's Leadership and Child Rights.She has carried out D&I and POSH trainings at leading companies like Boeing, Ernst & Young Trilegal and DS Group (Catch Foods). She has also delivered powerful talks on women's leadership, talent management, workplace security, and social justice at institutions like FICCI, CII, PHDCC, LSE, IIT Madras & IIM Lucknow.
A former Director General of Police, Ms. Sanyal has been awarded the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Services. As the first woman to become Director General of Police in U.P., she founded and led the U.P. Police Mahila Samman Prakoshth (MSP), an award-winning police unit, for protecting and empowering over 14 crore women and children.
She served as the Chairperson of the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) of UP Police, the
second largest police force in the world, and as Advisor (Security) to GAIL India Ltd.
Her work has been commended internationally by the Govt. of UK, INTERPOL & US Department of
State. She was recognized as an “Indian Woman Leader” by the British High Commission and was the only Indian invited to address the INTERPOL's ISGCAC'17. She also served on the Govt. of India's Micro Mission 07, to develop national policy for gender equality.
She has been awarded the Indian Express Devi Award, MSME/BRICS Women's Leadership Award, FICCI FLO Outstanding Police Woman Award, WEF Iconic Women Award & the HT International Women's Day Award.
Ms. Sanyal is a former Member of the Advisory Committee of CARA (WCD Ministry) and works as an independent consultant to Kailash Satyarthi Children's Foundation.
